 Book of Song of Songs

Song of Songs 1:1-4:16 “The Song of Solomon pictures the love Christ has for His bride, the church. It also paints a portrait of sensual sexuality and the beautiful union our Creator had in mind when He gave Eve to Adam and instituted marriage.  Solomon and  his bride celebrate their emotional and physical union, their single-minded devotion and faithfulness to each other. God intends marriage to illustrate the oneness of Christ Jesus and His church. The New Testament consistently presents this view of marriage and sexuality, too (see Hebrews 13:4).” (Today’s Light Bible, Sharpen the focus, page 932)

Song of Songs 5:1-8:14 “Just like a new bridegroom who sees no flaw in the one he loves, Jesus loves us with unending love. He sees us as beautiful (4:1); flawless, perfect (4:7, 5:2); and unique (6:9). His cross has made that identity possible for us. If you fully believed these things about yourself, what difference would that truth make in: your relationships with others in your family, your confidence in God’s willingness to hear and answer your prayers, your attitudes towards those who don’t know Christ, the care you take of your body, the quality of your worship life?  Take whatever doubts you have about your identity as a redeemed child of God to the Redeemer Himself. Ask Him to remind you of His devotion to you, and His commitment of eternal love.” (Today’s Light Bible, Sharpen the Focus, page 936.
